With the country in turmoil and people who work being crushed by a tyrannical ruler taxing them into oblivion it would be easy to see writer – director Paul Greengrass’ new film. ‘The Uprising’ being a drama about Britain since the 2024 election. But it’s not (although it might as well be) instead it is set in 1381 and is the true story of Wat Tyler leading, well, an uprising.
The Uprising trailer sees Andrew Garfield stars as the legendary leader Wat Tyler of a ferocious rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II. As war burns across England, he forms an army of the people to face the King’s might in a fight for justice and survival.
Starring Andrew Garfield the film co-stars Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, Woody Norman and Katherine Waterston. It is a great cast and wroth brearing in mind that Garfield has two Best Actor Oscar nominations to his name and has been cast in films for Scorsese and David Fincher
The Uprising will be released on 9th October 2026
