Way back in 2024 we reported about a film about the making of Rocky that the then unknown actor Sylvester Stallone had written and would not sell unless he was cast in the title role that would later go one to be one of two defining roles in his career. Well now that film has been been and we get a first glimpse with the release of the I Play Rocky trailer
It is no secret that the films plot follows a failing actor who writes the ultimate underdog story and must fight for his chance to play the role of a lifetime – Rocky Balboa.
I Play Rocky has a great cast…
A great cast sees Anthony Ippolito playing Stallone albeit it is not the first time he played a real life actor having played a young Al Pacino in, “The Offer”. Matt Dillon plays Stallone’s brother Frank, Jay Deplass is the late director John G Avildsen and our own Toby Kebbell plays film producer Robert Chartoff. But the biggest surprise is that helming the film is Peter Farrelly whom along with brother Bobbym made so many of those great gross comedies of the 1990’s albeit he now has a Best Film Oscar to his name for 2019’s Green Book
I Play Rocky is set for release in the UK on 20th November 2026
