Kathleen Chalfant is a hugely respected American actress who has won much acclaim for her stage performances but has also appeared on TV shows and films too numerous to mention. Her latest film is, ‘Familiar Touch that saw her win Best Actress award at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

The fil sees her star as Ruth, an octogenarian woman, who transitions to life in assisted living as she contends with her conflicting relationship to herself and her caregivers amidst her shifting memory, age identity, and desires.

It’s a tremendous film with a sensitive and moving central performance and we had the opportunity to chat with Kathleen in New York about the film, her performance and working with a first time feature film director Sarah Friedland.
