In Hollywood there’s a whole load of make up effects houses and though Rick Baker is arguably the king of them all with seven Oscars to his name he has now been retired for some years. But the biggest make up effects house in Hollywood is KNB FX of which the ‘B’ stands for Berger, Howard Berger, ( K is for Kurtszman, Robert and N is for Nicoterro, Greg) himself an Oscar winner for the live action version of, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. We have had the privilege to chat with Howard extensively over the past few years about his craft but especially about his and the company’s work on every Tarantino film to date.
The company has provided the effects for all of Tarantino’s films that has taken in scalping, ears being sliced off, heads being blown up and eyeballs being plucked out. But Howard revealed just how this all started before Tarantino was even directing and how it all took off for both him and the company. It’s clear that the company absolutely love working for the writer-director who inspires devotion from both cast and crew.
