Finish him !

With Mortal Kombat II  having been out for around a week the box office figures show it having earned $60m to date and its had decent enough response form fans of the game but its final box office tally will ultimately decide the future of the franchise and nothing official has been announced yet by the studio. But that aside according to writer Jeremy Slater there is some Mortal Kombat III news.

Mortal Kombat III news….

In a recent interview he revealed, ‘ Yeah, we are not green-lit for a third movie yet. When the initial test screening numbers came back last year and the studio saw how fans were responding to II, I think they realized that there’s a potential here for this to be an ongoing franchise. So they commissioned me to start working on a script for III, and I’m finishing a second draft right now. I’m very, very happy with it. In the same way that we took lessons from the first one and tried to make II a much better movie, we’re now taking the lessons from II. We’re taking some of the fan reactions from early screenings to make III even bigger and even more satisfying. We want to continue to raise the bar for ourselves along the way.’

With the film doing steady business it would seem that there will be more Mortal Kombat III news announced shortly.

What’s next for the writer?

Slater has an interesting back catalogue of scripts tat includes ‘Godzilla x Kong’, and most significantly  the disastrous 2015 superhero film Fantastic Four that crashed and burned though not through any fault of his. He is soon to be also making his move into directing with ‘Thread’ a spin off from the ‘Insidious’ horror franchise
