Why The Magic Faraway Tree trailer?
Anyone of a certain age might remember the opening night of Channel 4 Tv station and The Comic Strips re-interpretation of the Famous Five with @Five Go mad in Dorset that stamped all over the rose tinted versions of Enid Blyton beloved adventurers. But those books are still a favourite and after the huge success of children’s books such as Paddington the Enid Blyton back catalogue has been re-appraised and we now have The Magic Faraway Tree trailer which looks quite magical.
What’s The Magic Faraway Tree about?
The Magic Faraway Tree follows Polly (Claire Foy), Tim (Andrew Garfield) and their three children – a modern family forced to relocate to the remote English countryside. As they adapt to their new lives, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric residents including treasured characters Moonface (Nonso Anozie), Silky (Nicola Coughlan), Dame Washalot (Jessica Gunning) and Saucepan Man (Dustin Demri-Burns). At the top of the tree, they are transported to spectacular and fantastical lands and, through the joys and challenges of their adventures, the family learn to reconnect and value each other for the first time in years.
Behind the scenes…..
The film makers have put together a terrific cast for this which should be a huge draw with the film starring Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie, Jessica Gunning, Dustin Demri-Burns, Mark Heap, Oliver Chris, Sir Lenny Henry, Sir Michael Palin, Sir Simon Russell Beale with Jennifer Saunders and Rebecca Ferguson. Best of all, at least for us, is the appearance of Simon Farnaby who had also written the script. He has great form for big screen adaptations ahving written Paddington 2 for which he was BAFTA nominated. It also worth checking out his film, ‘The Phantom of the Open’ ) that starred Mark Rylance) and also the surreal comedy ‘Mindhorn’ where he costars with the mist insane Dutch accent.
THE MAGIC FARAWAY TREE is in UK and Ireland cinemas on 27th March 2026
