In the case of belated sequels Tron is certainly one of them. With the original film released in 1982 with, at the time cutting edge computer graphics it was a moderate but influential success. But it would be 28 years later when we would get a sequel with the release of 2010’s ‘Tron Legacy. At least we’ve only had to wait 15 years for another film in the series and we get a first glimpse with the Tron Ares trailer and it does look pretty special
“TRON: Ares” follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. The feature film is directed by Joachim Rønning and stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, with Gillian Anderson and, of course, Jeff Bridges.
Disney’s “TRON: Ares” releases in UK cinemas on 10th October 2025.
