So whilst Ryan Gosling is working on the new Star Wars film we get a look at another sci-fi based film he stars in with the release of the Project Hail Mary trailer.
What’s the Project Hail Mary about?
Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
Who is starring in the Project Hail Mary trailer?
Co-starring with Ryan Gosling (who was the only choice for Grace and was signed on when the book rights were bought in 2021) is Sandra Hüller in her first American film, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung and Milana Vayntrub.
Behind the scenes….
Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller and this is their first co-directing project since disastrous helming of the Star Wars film, ‘Solo : A Star Wars story’ in 2018). The screenplay is by Drew Goddard that is based on the novel by Andy Weir who sold the book’s film rights to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in early 2020 for $3 million.
But what about that music ?
The trailer looks intriguing but our only reticence is Hollywood’s obsession with taking great upbeat songs and slowing them down to some drawling vocal fry dirge and here it is the use of the beloved and classic Oasis song, ‘Champagne Supernova’ so please do let us know what you think in the comments below whether you agree or not!
