Back in the day we were always at stand up clubs especially ‘Up the Creek!’ the notorious comedy club in Greenwich owned and run by the late great Malcolm Hardee a man of legendary status whose life is surely worth the biopic treatment. From getting his wedding tackle out on stage, compering whilst semi inebriated to his dance troupe the banned from TV, The Greatest Show on Legs’ and his insane promotional schemes for the acts he acted as an agent. This film is apparently based/inspired by the life story of John Bishop (from Liverpool in the UK). Will Arnett and John Bishop apparently met and Arnett wanted to make his story a film.

Behind the scenes
Co-written, co-produced and directed by Bradley Cooper this looks likely to be another Oscar contender for him but films about stand ups are notoriously unpredictable because for every Man on the Moon & The King of Comedy there’s a Punchline (Tom Hanks flop) & The Comedian’s Guide to Survival (James Buckley bomb).
