Goldeneye director advice for the new Bond film…..

movie flex

So with Amazon now in charge of the Bond franchise and Dennis Villeneuve confirmed as the director we still wait the casting announcement as to who will be the new James Bond. There have been rumours of just how the franchise will proceed in light of how No Time to Die came to a pretty definitive end – does it go into Bond The Early Years, does it run in a parallel universe or does it ignore the ending and carry on as though nothing happened? Whatever happens Martin Campbell who directed two of the great Bond films that were also debut films for Brosnan & Daniel in the role knows what they should and should not do. So in a recent interview the Goldeneye director advice for the new Bond film was this:

Don’t break what isn’t broken. It doesn’t need to be a reboot – it just needs to be a bloody good Bond film! If we released GoldenEye or Casino Royale again next week, they’d feel just as potent. So don’t f— with it, basically. There’s a lot of fertile ground for Bond, particularly the way the world is at the moment. I just hope that they don’t break what’s not broken! ……….There are no established standouts like Pierce. Pierce was a perfect Bond for his time. But Daniel wasn’t Daniel Craig when he got the part, and all credit to Barbara Broccoli for pushing him. So what you’re looking for is another Daniel Craig, someone who isn’t necessarily a star…Frankly, you don’t need a star. James Bond is the star, and the film is the star. They just need to find a terrific actor who looks right for the part.

The Goldeneye director went on to explain that part of the film was the humour that was wholly absent from the Timothy Dalton films.
