The Strangers was a supremely suspense filled chiller from back in 2008. A sleeper hit the original “Strangers” starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as the targets of masked killers who break into their home. It quickly gained a following with several expertly crafted moments and a distinctly un-Hollywood ending and earned $82m off a $9m budget. A far less successful sequel followed in 2018. Last years we had a third film turned out to be a prequel and was the start of a trilogy and to that end we now have a fourth film titled The Strangers Chapter 2
Renny Harlin returns to direct a story set on the final day of a cross country road trip, a couple’s vehicle breaks down, forcing them to take refuge in a remote Airbnb. As night falls, three masked strangers terrorize them until dawn.
The previous film earned a respectable $48m and Renny Harlin, who has previously helmed “Die Hard 2,” “Cliffhanger” and “The Long Kiss Goodnight,” will be shooting the third film in this trilogy (which will be the fifth film in the franchise) too.
