Most people will know the work of stop motion maestro Ray Harryhausen but Phil Tippett continued the tradition and you’ll know his work from films as varied as Jurassic Park (for which he won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects), Robocop, Starship Troopers plus Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
We got the opportunity to chat with Phil about his career and we asked just how did George Lucas hire him for the fledgling ILM and got him to work on Star Wars. Phil also went on to explain how that chess scene between Chewbacca and C-3PO on the Millennium Falcon came into being.
