Jason Statham faces mutiny ….it is not quite the catastrophe that it might sound as Mutiny is the title of his latest actioner that started filming this week directed by Jean-Francois Richet who directs from a screenplay by JP Davis and Lindsay Michel. Ricjet’s previous was the enjoyable Gerard Butler actioner, ‘Plane’ and the remake of the John Carpenter classic. ‘Assault on Precinct 13’.
Mutiny sees Statham play Cole Reed, a fallen-from-grace ex-Special Forces (obvs) and New York cop now working in private security. When he is framed for the murder of his friend Tibu, a billionaire Thai shipping tycoon, Reed must go on the run and find the real killer, a mission that uncovers corruption and an international conspiracy…..and we’re also thinking all lot of villainous types will get a good kicking too!
The UK rights have been acquired by Sky Original Film with their director of original film Julia Stuart saying: “ ‘Mutiny’ was an irresistible project for us – a perfect combination of two action powerhouses Jason Statham and Jean-Francois Richet, which we know is going to deliver an unforgettable experience for viewers. ‘The Beekeeper’ was a huge hit for us, so it’s fantastic to add another Statham-powered title to our slate and to work alongside Lionsgate to bring this high octane project to international audiences.”
Filming will also take place in Malta and the film also has Statham producing for his Punch Palace Productions ….but in reality despite our headline we very much doubt that Jason Statham faces mutiny !
