So after The Odyssey and Spiderman Brand New Day the other really big blockbuster that is expected to break the billion dollar mark is the MCU film Avengers Doomsday and we get a first full trailer that hints at what to expect in what is the 39th feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What the Avengers Doomsday trailer hints at…
“Put aside your petty squabbles. Presume nothing except this: If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters,” Chris Hemsworth ‘s Thor tells his fellow heroes in the trailer about the threat of Doom. “Mark my words: We are going to need a miracle!” But his warning is not about Meghan Markle but instead about Victor Von Doom played by Robert Downey Jr and the rumours abound as to how its possibly tied to his role as Iron Man but its still far to early to know. A first look at Doctor Doom was released in April depicting Doom dressed in a green uniform and wielding a wand.
A long absent character….
There is also a host of new superheroes returning including Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler and the actor has commented on his return to the role saying, “It was amazing. It was actually really… in a sort of ooey, gooey way, it was really healing and really nice to go back to something that was a terrible experience when I did it the first time’.
The Russo Brothers helm Avengers: Doomsday from a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The directing duo return to lead an MCU feature for the first time since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame which became the second-highest-grossing movie of all time after Avatar.
Avengers Doomsday is released on 18th December 2026
