’30 Days of Night’ director David Slade talks about his vampire classic

With a background in music videos director David Slade moved into feature films with his debut, ‘Hard Candy’ a controversial and often shocking film that won a hist of awards and plaudits. He changed genre entirely with his second film, ’30 Days of Night’ a stylish adaptation of a graphic novel that starred Danny Huston, Josh Hartnett and Melissa George.

The film is set in Barrow, an Alaskan town that is plunged into darkness for a month and is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires led by Danny Huston’s Marlow.

The film did decent business and earned much acclaim and we had the opportunity to chat with David about the film, the casting, the effects and why he swerved helming a sequel.
