We like Taika Waititi though of late he has had his detractors but perhaps the trailer for his new film Klara and the Sun will get them back on side and this does have the look of a possible award winner that would add to his Oscar for JoJo Rabbit
Based on the bestselling novel from Nobel Prize-winner Kazuo Ishiguro and written and directed by Academy-Award® winner Taika Waititi, Klara and the Sun introduces audiences to Klara (Jenna Ortega), an Artificial Friend who wants nothing more than to find the perfect home. When Klara meets Josie (Mia Tharia), each immediately senses a kindred spirit in the other. Josie has a fraught relationship with her mother (Amy Adams) and they’ve suffered great loss, but Klara’s innocent wonder and unwavering loyalty begin to heal the family and bring light to Josie’s complicated world.
Filming began way back in January 2024 under the working title “Tears and Rain”, primarily at Silverlight Studios in Wanaka, New Zealand with additional scenes being filmed in Auckland, with production wrapping in April 2024.
This is Jenna Ortega and Steve Buscemi’s second project together. They previously worked with each other in the second season of Netflix’s hit show Wednesday (2022) where Buscemi played the new principal of Nevermore Academy, Barry Dort, while Ortega stars in the lead role of Wednesday Addams.
