The Hollywood Godzilla films were all made for ever increasing nine figures budgets. Godzilla Minus One was made for a minuscule $15m – basically the catering budget for the Hollywood films. And yet Godzilla Minus One is the film that won an Oscar for its visual effects , the first non-Hollywood film to do so. Well now we have a sequel and a first glimpse with the Godzilla Minus Zero trailer.
This sequel picks up in 1949 two years after the first film as Japan tries to step away from the nightmares of war and monsters. However, peace is short-lived when Godzilla returns, fully regenerated, larger and more ferocious – endangering the fragile nation.
Godzilla Minus Zero is the first Japanese film to be shot entirely on, and for, IMAX.
Release date is to be in November 2026 but awaits confirmation
