News of M Night Shyamalan’s next film
After a career slump in box office bombs director M Night Shyamalan has had something of a resurgence over the past decade with hit films that started with 2015’s The Visit that earned over $100m off a $5m budget and since then we’ve had Split, Glass. Old, Cabin in the Woods and Trap that have all bolstered his career. Well now there’s news of M Night Shyamalan’s next film.
M Night Shyamalan’s next film will be…
That film will be ‘Remain’ a romantic drama that also inspired Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling novel of the same name
The cast…
M Night Shyamalan’s next film will have a cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal and “Bridgerton” star Phoebe Dynevor and co-starring will be Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, Jay O. Sanders, Tracy Ifeachor, Hannah James, Caleb Ruminer, Kieran Mulcare and Maria Dizzia. Shyamalan and Sparks independently wrote a screenplay and a novel, respectively, based on the same original love story.
The story behind its release date…
“Remain” was originally slated to debut in October 2026 but will hit cinemas on 5th February 2027. The reason for the delay is intriguing because the studio (Warners) saw the extremely strong pre-sales for upcoming Margot Robbie starrer “Wuthering Heights,” that is being released near Valentine’s Day. Consequently the train of though is that February, often seen as a slow month for moviegoing, has become a much more lucrative month to release films. It’s worth noting that Silence of the Lambs was released at the same time and look how that performed albeit a different genre. Test audiences have also given “Remain” the highest test scores of Shyamalan’s career on a par with “The Sixth Sense” and “Unbreakable” and his other hits also.
The other studios also have their eyes on the same February date with Judd Apatow’s comedy starring Glen Powell, Disney’s “Ice Age: Boiling Point”.
