For us Brits the singer Neil Diamond means drunkenly caterwauling versions of Sweet Caroline at Karaoke nights but the legendary singer is far more than that as the Sing Sung Blue trailer shows.
Written and directed by Craig Brewer the film is a true life story that focuses on a pair of struggling musicians whose luck changes when they decide to form a Neil Diamond tribute band proving it’s never too late to find love and follow your dreams.
Starring High Jackman and Kate Hudson as the couple the film co-stars Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir and Hudson Hensley and is already garnering goof word of mouth. Diamond released his single “Song Sung Blue” in 1972, and it hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. and was followed by other hits including “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Longfellow Serenade” and of course, “Sweet Caroline.
Director Brewer (Coming 2 America – reviewed HERE) steered Song Sung Blue from his own script that is based on a 2008 documentary of the same name.
The film is released in the US on Christmas Day with a UK date to be confirmed
