So whilst Sylvester Stallone bowed out of the franchise back in 2019 with ‘Rambo Last Blood ( the first film in 1982 was called First Blood – see what they did there?) in a $880m grossing franchise there’s news now of a Rambo prequel.
Based on David Morrell’s 1972 novel “First Blood,” about a troubled Vietnam War veteran and former U.S. Army Special Forces Soldier who is an expert in weaponry, hand-to-hand combat and guerrilla warfare the prequel looks like it might go back to his origins and taking the role will be Noah Centino who made headlines with his role in “The Fosters” before breaking out with a scene-stealing turn as heartthrob Peter Kavinsky in Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” films. He has also appeared opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in “Black Adam” as Atom Smasher and back in June he portrayed gunner Brian Zawi in Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland’s “Warfare” with Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Charles Melton and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai.
Rare Exports, Big Game and the extraordinarily brutal ‘Sisu’ director Jalmari Helander is set to direct the Rambo prequel from a screenplay by writing duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam). The aim is to start principal photography in October in Thailand with a story that will see a young John Rambo during the Vietnam War. Rumours are that Sylvester Stallone is aware of the project with door open for him to make a cameo if he wishes.
Its looks highly likely that this will be utter carnage if the fourth and fifth film were anything to go by! We cant wait!”
