Bobcat Goldthwait talks about his God Bless America controversy….

movie flex

For many UK audiences Bobcat Goldthwait first came to attention with his role as Zed in the Police Academy films. But over the years the wild, spaced out stand up personality has been put to one side whilst he focuses on his writing and directing and has been equally wild none more so than his satire God Bless America where, on a mission to rid society of its most repellent citizens, terminally ill Frank (Joel Murray)  makes an unlikely accomplice in 16-year-old Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr) as they go on a killing spree!

It’s a wild film with the film take potshots at everything from TNZ news to reality TV to stunning and often shocking effect – the first ten minutes with a neighbour’s noisy baby has a jaw dropping moment that is difficult to believe  got past the censors.

Off screen Bobcat Goldthwait is a very different person and we had the opportunity to speak to him at length about the God Bless America controversy
