Cujo remake news

So whilst old Stephen King stories like the recently released ‘The Monkey’ are being made for the first time (and to much acclaim) the remake of films of his books continue apace and the latest is his rabid dog book with news of a Cujo remake.

The 1981 Stephen King novel was first adapted for a 1983 feature film that starred Dee Wallace and Danny Pintauro as the mother and son who fight off a rabid dog while trapped in their car. At first Cujo is a lovable St. Bernard, but after being bitten by a bat becomes everyone’s worst enemy. Lurching around, dribbling uncontrollably and desperate to get at the woman its something that had not been seen since our Editor’s stag night (‘You’re fired!‘ – Ed).

It’s Netflix who have greenlit the Cujo remake which will be produced by the prolific Roy Lee who was behind the recent Salem’s Lot remake and the far better’ Companion’.

Cujo earned a modest $21m back in the day and King, having published 65 novels to date and over 200 short stories, has sold the rights worldwide and have been snapped up for film and TV adaptations almost without exception
