After the success Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey and its subsequent sequel the Twisted Childhood Universe or ‘Pooh-niverse’ as it’s been dubbed expands with the release of the Bambi The Reckoning trailer as its actually to titled.
This time its a retelling of the Felix Salten, “Bambi, a Life in the Woods” book which served as the basis for the Disney animated classic and has ben bastardized into a horror version. This time the story follows Xana (Roxanne McKee) and her son Benji (Tom Mulheron) who find themselves in a car wreck and soon hunted down by the vicious killing machine, the deer Bambi, who will destroy anyone in its path as it seeks revenge for the death of its mother.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who directed the two Pooh bear horror flicks now produces whilst Dan Allen directs from a screenplay written by Rhys Warrington. The cast also includes Nicola Wright, Samira Mighty, Alex Cooke, Russell Geoffrey Banks, Catherine Adams, Big Tobz, Adrian Relph, Joseph Greenwood, Luke Cavendish, and Ewan Borthwick. From what we can see of the trailer there certainly seems to be a step up in terms of effects budget.
A Peter Pan horror was released back in January that seems to have been largely ignored but later this year we can look forward to “Pinocchio: Unstrung” and then finally “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble”. It is rumoured that future films in the pipeline will include, “Awakening Sleeping Beauty,” “Snow White Returns,” “Tigger Returns,” “Alice the Mad,” “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3” and an untitled Mary Poppins film.
No UK release date has been confirmed as yet but should be soon
