So here’s something that doesn’t happen very often but Sony Pictures has officially released the opening 8 minutes of Kraven the Hunter which is set for release in cinemas on December 13th.
The film is set in the SSU/SPUMC universe following the commercially successful “Venom” films and the flops “Morbius” and “Madame Web”. The future of that particular universe could well be decided by the success of Kraven.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.
Also appearing in the film is Fred Hechinger as Kraven’s estranged half-brother Dmitri Smerdyakov/Chameleon, Alessandro Nivola as Russian mercenary Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino, Ariana DeBose as voodoo priestess Calypso who is Kraven’s love interest, and Christopher Abbott as mercenary and assassin The Foreigner. The film was shot entirely on location in the UK and Iceland, and is directed by Oscar nominee J.C. Chandor (“Triple Frontier”) from a screenplay co-written by Richard Wenk (“The Equalizer”), Matt Holloway, and Art Marcum.
