one of 2024’s best films was ‘Civil War’ written and directed by the great Alex Garland. Well he returns to the military with the release of the ‘Warfare’ trailer.
Described as “a visceral, boots-on-the-ground story of modern warfare, told like never before: in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it” the film is purportedly a bloody, immersive retelling of the 2006 Iraq war intended to drag viewers into the horrors of military combat by depicting a squad of American soldiers inside the home of an Iraqi family and coming under heavy bombardment and attack.
For the first time Garland co-directs with ex-Navy Seal Ray Mendoza’s real-life experiences during the Iraq War from a script they also co-wrote. Mendoza who served as the military supervisor on Garland’s Civil War, is played in the film by D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai along with an ensemble cast includes that includes Joseph Quinn, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, Henrique Zaga and Charles Melton.
No release date has been confirmed either in the US or UK yet
