Acclaimed director Sean Baker previous films have been both impressive and critical successes. His most recent film was 2021’s ‘Red Rocket’ about Mikey Saber (Simon Rex) a washed-up porn star who returns to his small Texas hometown, not that anyone really wants him back. It was pretty good and he returns to the world of sex workers with the release of the ‘Anora’ trailer
ANORA follows a young sex worker from Brooklyn who gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairy tale is threatened as the parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.
At the Cannes Film Festival press conference, Mikey Madison who plays Anora said that director Sean Baker would act out different sex positions with his wife, producer Samantha Quan to demonstrate to the actors what he wanted them to do. The film stars Mikey Madison, Mark Eydelshteyn, Yura Borisov, Karren Karagulian, Vache Tovmasyan and is written and directed by Sean Baker.
Anora is released in UK Cinemas on 1st November 2024
