Icelandic actor turned director Baltasar Kormákur work spans theater, movies and television. Graduating as an actor from Iceland’s National Academy of Fine Arts in 1990 he was immediately signed on by the National Theatre of Iceland, where he worked as one of the leading young performing artists until 1997. he moved behind the camera and over the past ten years has helmed a number of Hollywood films Everest (2015) and ‘Beast’ (2022) starring Idris Elba. Both are man against the elements films but his new film, ‘Touch’ is far different and emotional.
Based on a the novel by Olaf Olafsson Touch is a romantic and thrilling story that spans several decades and continents and follows one man’s emotional journey to find his first love who disappeared 50 years ago, before his time runs out. Read our review HERE
Flitting back and fore in the life of its lead character Kristofer the older version is played by Egil Olafsson who himself was diagnosed with a serious degenerative condition. Te younger version of Kristofer s played by the directors own son.
