So for us over the past ten years Hugh Grant has proved himself to be one of our greatest actors. Starting with his sort of comedy role in Florence Foster Jenkins he proved himself as a great light comedian. Paddington 2 saw him in scene stealing form as the villain of the piece and sending himself up at the same time. A Very British Scandal proved his acting chops and his turn in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen saw him on splendid vowel mangling form as a sleazy journalist was one of the films many highlights. Well now we get to see him get super creepy in the Heretic trailer

In Heretic he plays a man who is visited by two young Mormon missionaries  (Chloe East and Sophie Thatcher) who he then puts through an intense series of psychological games. “I won’t keep you if you wish to leave, but I want you to choose which door to go through based on your faith,” Grant states in the trailer, writing “BELIEF” and “DISBELIEF” on two doorways. The ending of the trailer is super creepy and sure to give audiences with claustrophobia fears the hee-bee gee-bees!

“Heretic” is written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who broke through with their script for John Krasinski’s 2018 horror film “A Quiet Place.” The two teamed again to co-write and direct the 2019 crime horror film “Haunt,” as well as the Adam Driver dinosaur survival film “65.” The pair also co-wrote the screenplay for the Stephen King adaptation “The Boogeyman,” which starred Thatcher.

Filming started in the Autumn 2023 in Vancouver during the SAG-AFTRA strike, with a guild-approved interim agreement. The cast also includes Elle McKinnon, River Codack, Carolyn Adair, Stephanie Lavigne and Elle Young.
