Olivia Colman is something of a national treasure and is a joy to watch in whatever she appears in but the Wicked Little Letters trailer is like nothing we’ve see he do before in a spectacularly potty mouthed trailer that is based on a true story. We know a lot of our readers look at the site in work but this trailer is definitely NSFW with Colman in one short scene in remarkable foul mouthed form!
A 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a farcical and occasionally sinister scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. Based on a stranger than fiction true story, WICKED LITTLE LETTERS follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town’s women – led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) – begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.
Beside oscar winner Olivia Colman there’s Academy Award® and BAFTA Film and Television nominee Jessie Buckley and costarring are Anjana Vasan (Killing Eve), BAFTA Nominee Timothy Spall (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 & 2), BAFTA winner Joanna Scanlan (After Love,), Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia), BAFTA winner Malachi Kirby (Small Axe), Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones trilogy, ), Lolly Adefope (Ghosts), Eileen Atkins (The Crown), and Alisha Weir (Matilda!). The film is directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You), with a script by British actor and writer Jonny Sweet, based on a true story.
