George Clooney’s recent films as director have been a little underwhelming with his last the Tender bar generally ignored despite a decent cast headed up by Ben Affleck. But landing in our inbox is The Boys in the Boat trailer which is based on a true story and falls under the category ‘does what its says on the tin’ being as it is about a team boys in a boat who are part of a rowing team. It is Clooney’s first sports movie since Leatherheads back in 2008
The film is centres on the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the world.
The Boys in the Boat is a sports drama based on the #1 New York Times bestselling non-fiction novel written by Daniel James Brown. the film is headed up by Joel Edgerton and a hist of young upcoming actors.
The Boys in the Boat is released in cinemas 12th January 2024
