Like so many directors David Fincher has embraced the freedom he gets to make films for Netflix and his 2020 film ‘Mank’ for the streamer earned him another Oscar nomination (amongst ten in all for the film) with the film winning two for its cinematography and production design. In fact Fincher’s last film made directly for cinema was 2014’s ‘Gone Girl’ and since then it’s his Mindhunters series that has taken much of his time. But for the last twenty years he’s been developing ‘The Killer’ a pet project of his for over twenty years which has now been shot and we have a first poster. But here’s what we know about David Fincher’s, ‘The Killer’…..
- Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Alexis Nolent and illustrated by Luc Jacamon the film follows an assassin who’s battling his employers (and himself) on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.
- It’s been adapted by Andrew Kevin Walker who wrote the superb thriller Seven that Fincher also directed. He also did uncredited work on The Game and Fight Club
- Filming beginning back in November 2021 in Los Angeles, Paris, New Orleans, Chicago, and the Dominican Republic.
- It stars Micheal Fassbender in his first film to be released since 2019. Tilda Swinton co-stars
- The film will launch at the Venice Film Festival, ahead of a limited cinema release in October and then its arrival on Netflix on 10th November.
- It was shot for an estimated $175,000,000
- It runs for one hour and fifty three minutes
- The MPAA have rated the film R for strong violence, language and brief sexuality
- Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will handle the films score
