Nick Moran first burst onto the scene along with a whole host of other actors real life villains and in the case of Vinnie Jones, former footballers, with ‘Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’. Written and directed by Guy Ritchie in his debut feature it was a revitalization of the cockney geezer gangster film. Brilliantly structured, verbally hilarious with sparkling visual flourishes and a cast both old and new that were at the top of their game it was a huge hit and a culturally important moment in 1990’s British films. But shortly afterwards for Nick Moran Guy Ritchie things went a little awry between them and the pair have not worked together since.
It’s a shame because Nick is a terrific actor given the right material and Guy’s oeuvre and style of writing is well suited to the actor’s interpretation and ability to deliver the lines. We had the opportunity to chat to Nick about his career where he himself has gone on to direct to much acclaim. Nick spoke quite openly about Guy and the possibility of them working together again that’s made all the more surprising by where the pair of them now live.
