There’s been quite a lot on social media about Blake Lively’s case against her ‘It ends with Us’ co-star / director Justin Baldoni and each have now taken out legal cases against one another. But while that case rages on there’s been rumours that the Blake Lively / Anna Kendrick sequel ‘A Simple Favour 2’ been shelved by Amazon studios.
Filming finished back in Spring 2024 and it was rumoured that Lively and her co-star Anna Kendrick continued the feud that began on the original film. This all seems to have stemmed from a release date not having been released by Amazon which almost a year after wrapping is unusual. Director Paul Feig has come out fighting saying, ‘It’s called post production, which generally takes over half a year at least when you factor in editing, scoring, special effects, sound mixing, close captioning and all the technical quality control that has to be done,” wrote Feig. “Our post schedule always had us finishing everything by mid-January. Movies don’t come out the second they’re finished because the studio spends the previous year deciding the best date to release it. We’ve always planned on something in the spring/summer of this year. That’s how movies work. I hope this helps.’
He went on to rave about the sequel saying, “The movie is awesome, and Blake and Anna turn in amazing performances. I can’t wait for you all to see it. Stay tuned for more details. Simple Favor 2 is coming soon!’. Although in fairness no director is ever going to rubbish their own film before its released and the first film was pretty good earning $97m off a modest $20m budget.
The sequel sees Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.
So as to whether ‘A Simple Favour 2’ been shelved remains in doubt
