After the controversial remarks made by Rachel Zegler we do now have the Snow White trailer – the live action version of the classic Disney animated feature. The film is almost 90 years old but remains one of the cornerstone features of Disney’s animated feature films.
Marc Web, known for directing the Amazing Spider-Man movies, is directing the feature, which has songs from The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen‘s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Its been a long time coming as Zegler and Gal Gadot who plays the wicked Witch appeared at Disney Con in 2023 to promote it and its been knocked on a year due to the SAG strike and Zegler’s comments to the press didn’t help. Those comments had social media in a tizz. Calling Prince Charming ‘creepy’ and that, ‘the film came out in 1937 and very evidently so’ and that Snow White was not looking for love but was to become a leader. The comments went down extraordinarily badly and the idea of the film now having seven dwarves but fantastical beings has enraged die hard fans further.
The teaser trailer recreates several iconic shots form the original and form what we can see here it does look good. It is one of several Disney live-action movies to open in the coming months. First up is Mufasa: The Lion King, which bows on Dec. 20. The live-action remake business has been a strong one for Disney, especially prior to the pandemic, when it was almost routine for films such as Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin to gross $1 billion. Its most recent, The Little Mermaid, brought in $569.6 million
