movie flex

With rumours of a Rey Skywalker Star Wars film doing the rounds it’s worth remembering that Daisy Ridley has made a number of films outside of the franchise that includes roles in Murder on the Orient Express and lead role in, ‘Sometimes I think about Dying’. Her latest film is ‘Magpie’ not a big screen adaptation of 1970’s kids ITV counterpart to Blue Peter but a stylish neo-noir thriller centered on married couple Anette and Ben, whose lives begin to fracture when their daughter is cast alongside a glamorous movie star, Alicia. As Anette’s suspicions of Ben’s infatuation with Alicia intensify, their secrets and lies threaten to burst to the surface and destroy them all.

Magpie is a riveting little film with great compelling central performances that builds to a very satisfying climactic scene and is well worth searching out
