The Raid director Gareth Evans answers the question – Will there be The Raid 3?

Before we get to the question of the Raid 3 it worth looking back to 2011 where the world was given the astonishing Indonesian movie The Raid. Directed by Welshman Gareth Evans it is an incredible and bravura actioner that saw a S.W.A.T. team being trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs. In a manner similar to the excellent Dredd 3D (2012)  the hero cop, played by Iko Uwais, battles his way up the tenement to get to the Big Boss. The stunt work and fights were almost unbelievable captured with some bravura camera work it had audiences worldwide sitting up. Though the film only earned $9.1m its impact was colossal and talk of a Hollywood remake was immediate. except of course its not happened primarily because the stunt  work was almost impossible for Hollywood to match let alone better.

The Raid 2 followed in 2014 and was epic in length and scope with set pieces and stunt work opening with a brutal prison riot and only upping the ante to even greater heights that took in a hammed wielding assassin, a subway siege, and a bloody and brutal warehouse shoot out although the film disappointingly only made $6.5m at the box office. That aside fans have been clamouring for a third film to round off any trilogy. Director Gareth Evans has since gone on to direct hit TV series Gangs of London and we still wait the arrival of his latest film, the Tom Hardy starrer ,’Havoc. But of course fans are crying our for more Raid films and the director has finally answered  the question, Will there be the Raid 3?
