A film that deserved far more box office love was Greenland where a family struggles for survival in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster. The action-packed disaster thriller debuted theatrically in summer 2020 under the lockdown and opened number one in more than 26 countries including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Russia, grossing more than $52m internationally and deserved to do far better but as with everything the international lockdown spoiled it all. Well now we’re to get a Greenland 2 or Greenland : Migration as it will actually be titled

Gerard Butler (Plane, Angel Has Fallen, Den of Thieves), Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Deadpool 2 & 3, Gotham, Spy) and director Ric Roman Waugh (Kandahar, Angel Has Fallen, Shot Caller) are reprising their roles for Greenland: Migration, the sequel begins production in April 2024.

Chris Sparling and Mitchell Lafortune wrote the screenplay to Greenland: Migration, in which the Garrity family must leave the safety of the Greenland bunker after the comet “Clarke” decimated the earth and the family embarks on a harrowing journey across the wasteland of Europe to find a new home.

“We are thrilled to have Gerard, Morena and Ric back on board for Greenland: Migration to show the audiences what happened next to the Garrity family,” said producer Sébastien Raybaud. “To be back working with the teams at G-BASE, Thunder Road, CineMachine and STX, we know the next installment will be just as captivating as the first….. The success of Greenland showcased in a narratively and visually compelling way what one man will do to protect and provide for his family against the most cataclysmic of odds. We could not be more excited to be continuing the Garrity’s harrowing story.
