Way back ion 2007 before Will Smith start battering award show hosts and was something of a box office draw he had a big summer hot with I Am Legend a post apocalyptic horror that made $585m. A sequel seemed obvious and yet sixteen years later its only just now been confirmed and here is what we know about I am Legend 2.
The popular post-apocalyptic video game “The Last of Us,” that saw a TV adaptation on HBO starring Pedro Pascal in 2023 influenced writer Akiva Goldsman to write the sequel
The film had two endings and the more downbeat one made it to the final cut but the alternate ending found its way on to the home release and its that alternate ending where Smith survives that the sequel will follow. “We trace back to the original Matheson book…What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That’s a really interesting thing we’re going to get to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.”
Smith will reprise his role as Robert Neville and co-starring will be Michael B. Jordan with details of his character still under wraps and both actors will serve as producers on the sequel.
Alicia Braga starred in “I Am Legend” alongside Smith as a survivor of the vampire-like plague and survives at the end of the original film and it is reported that she is keen to reprise her role.
Wilt Will Smith still rehabilitating his reputation after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory having smacked Chris Rock before going on to win the Best Actor Oscar this could be his come back film
