We now get a Ferrari trailer a film that has taken Michael Mann decades to get to the big screen and it looks, as might be expected from a director of his calibre, excellent and will premiere at the Venice Film Festival which has just begun. A number of actors were attached to the project over the years including Christian Bale and Robert De Niro before Adam Driver secured the role. It is the director first film in eight years after the box office failure of BlackHat eight years ago and hopes are high for the film
Set during the summer of 1957. Ex-race car driver, Ferrari, is in crisis. Bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their tempestuous marriage struggles with the mourning for one son and the acknowledgement of another. He decides to counter his losses by rolling the dice on one race – 1,000 miles across Italy, the iconic Mille Miglia.
Delivered with little to no dialogue, the sequence of scenes reveals a man on the edge, emotions high as he and those around him grapple with the intensity of a life at high speed ahead of the Mille Miglia, a treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy. Adam Driver stars as Enzo Ferrari alongside Penelope Cruz as his wife Laura Ferrari. Shailene Woodley, Jack O’Connell, Sarah Gadon, Patrick Dempsey and Gabriel Leone co-star.
The film is being touted as a possible major awards contender along with a number of other films about to premiere there from other big name directors and hopes are high from the studio.
Ferrari will be released in cinemas on 26th December 2023
